We just got plane tickets a few days ago. It starts to become exciting when there are tangible things that happen as a result of months and months (even years in some cases) of planning and praying. As the time gets closer, I realize that I don't think I ever felt so close to Jesus' command to some of the disciples to drop everything and follow him. I look around at my house and think "we have too much stuff". What am I going to do with all of this while I'm gone? What's going to become of it when we come back!?!? I'm so thrilled to be called in this way to drop everything and follow Him...to serve in a way that is so much bigger than I could have ever imagined or been "trained" or "qualified" for! It's humbling.
I just sit in awe of God saying "just follow me, love me and obey...I can teach you how to do anything else". There are days I feel unqualified and under-trained...then there are days that I actually believe...and trust. I like those days better.
Well, would you look at that, I started this post to tell you what our itinerary was and there I go off on a tangent again.
IN ANY CASE. OUR ITINERARY! (It's got to be official now because we're not losing $5000 in plane tickets!!) :)
13 Sept 2011 - New York (JFK) to Rome, Italy (FCO)
18 Sept 2011 - Rome (FCO) to Doha, Qatar to Bangalore, Karnataka, India
13 March 2012 - Bangalore to Abu Dhabi to New York JFK
It looks so short when it's put that way!
We are really excited about spending a few days in Rome. My grandparents are from Italy so it will be pretty neat to see the "homeland". I have a friend from college who lived in Rome for some time and he gave me ALL KINDS of great tips about the city. It's INCREDIBLE how whatever people have, they give. It takes a village....
